Fantasy shows are incredibly popular and one can see why. They offer a brief respite from the grind of the real world and transport us into a world of magic and possibility. In fact, some of the best fantasy shows on Netflix do exactly that! We’re treated to some of the coolest worlds and characters on the platform and while some of them are supernatural shows on Netflix, rest assured that they’re all thrilling and exciting. There have been a few excellent all-round shows on Netflix but these Netflix fantasy series in 2020 have raised the bar in terms of fantasy drama series on Netflix for a while now. Fantasy has always been a niche genre but in the past few years, there has been an explosion of shows and films that dive head-first into the whole fantasy trope.

1. The Wheel of Time.

2. The Witcher.
The Witcher is an absolute blast and a half. The fantasy series is indeed very fantasy—it’s more Lord of the Rings than Game of Thrones—but it also doesn’t take itself too seriously and whole-heartedly embraces all aspects of fantasy storytelling and gaming, including fun side-quests, POV battles, and even a bard who follows Henry Cavill’s titular human/creature hybrid around singing songs about his glories. The show’s first season follows three stories destined to converge: Cavill’s Witcher is a muscle-for-hire monster hunter who begins to question why so many princesses have been turning into creatures; Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) is a powerful sorceress in training who struggles to keep her emotions in check; and princess Ciri (Freya Allan) is on the run after the sacking of her city, but harbors secrets of her own.

Lucifer
is an American urban fantasy television series developed by Tom Kapinos that
premiered on January 25, 2016, and concluded on September 10, 2021. It is based
on the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike
Dringenberg taken from the comic book series The Sandman.
The series revolves around the story of Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), the DC Universe's version of the Devil, who abandons Hell for Los Angeles where he runs his own nightclub named Lux and becomes a consultant to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The ensemble and supporting cast include Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker, Kevin Alejandro as Detective Daniel "Dan" Espinoza, D. B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin, and Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez. Filming took place primarily in Vancouver before production was relocated entirely to Los Angeles beginning with the third season.
4. Titans.
The Teen Titans have been a major part of DC in the past three decades and this time they’re got a full live-action show. Titans takes a grittier, more mature approach to superheroes and is a character-driven show. Sure, you’ve got the cool costumes and the fight scenes but it’s more about how the Titans deal with the aftermath of a vicious attack by their greatest enemy, Heatstroke the Terminator.

After centuries of quarreling, Stefan and Damon Salvatore return to their original town of Mystic Fall, Virginia. Stefan, the selfless, brave, guilt-ridden brother, meets a high school girl named Elena Gilbert whom he instantly falls in love with, while Damon, the gorgeous, dangerous and selfish vampire, is after his brother's girl to pay him back for making him turn into a vampire in 1864.
